Policies

These are the policies of Outback Hound (or “OH”) and the pet owner agrees to abide by all policies listed below.

GENERAL POLICY

Owner understands and agrees that during normal dog play, Owner’s dog may sustain injuries. All group dog play is monitored by staff, but scratches, punctures, torn ligaments, and other injuries may occur. OH is not liable for such injuries.

**No dog will be admitted to group play that shows any signs of aggression.**

INTAKE POLICY

OH requires all new clients to undergo an initial meet and greet with the family to complete a temperament assessment of the dog in their own home. DAYCARE SERVICES; OH requires the dog(s) come to the daycare space for a minimum of 1 trial visit up to but not exceeding 3 trial visits to ensure that the dog is a good candidate for the daycare environment. This will be completed prior to committing the dog to OH.

BEHAVIOUR IN DAYCARE POLICY
All daycare dogs attending daycare, and pack walk clients must have completed and passed their temperament assessments and prove to OH that they are non-aggressive, friendly with people, and not overly anxious to participate in doggy daycare and/or pack walks  Owners will need to verify that their dog has not harmed or shown aggression or threatening behaviour towards any person or dog.  Please remember that when your dog frequents the daycare play areas he/she will be in contact with many other types of dogs and the health and safety of all animals is our main priority.  Similar to at dog parks, acts of aggression can happen very quickly and without warning.  If your dog initiates an incident that OH deems unacceptable, OH reserves the right to remove your pet to its own separate area for safety reasons until your arrival.  OH reserves the right to refuse service and permanently expel your pet from our facility without explanation.

MEDICAL HISTORY, HEALTH AND WELLNESS STATUS OF PETS/ SICKNESS POLICY

Your pet’s medical history and information are very important to us.  If your pet is not feeling well (e.g. coughing, sneezing, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.), please do NOT bring him/her to our facility for both his/her own health and for that of our other guests.  To ensure the safety and well-being of pets in our care, owners must inform us of any allergies, intolerances, sensitivities, illnesses, and/or physical limitations.  Please note that if a pet has a communicable condition (e.g., viral or bacterial infections like canine papillomavirus), or is in heat, he/she may not attend OH until he/she is fully symptom-free, or has veterinary clearance.  Should your pet require immediate veterinary attention, OH will transport your pet to the nearest vet to our facility.  Please note that as the owner you will be responsible for all medical and veterinary costs incurred.  It is strongly recommended that all dogs attending Outback Hound Daycare facility are on a flea and heartworm prevention program. Dogs with fleas are not permitted in the facility. If your dog has fleas, they will be separated from the group and will need to be picked up immediately.

EQUIPMENT DAMAGE DUE TO DOG

Please note that dogs may damage their own equipment, or the equipment belonging to other dogs, during the course of their stay at our facilities.  As the owner of a pet participating in off-leash dog play, you assume the risk of damage or loss to your dog’s own equipment and you acknowledge that you will not be compensated for the loss or damage to the equipment.

FOOD FOR DAYCARE CLIENTS STAYING 6 HOURS POLICY

**If your dog requires lunch/mid day feeding only**

All food must be supplied or specified by the pet’s owner.  Please bring a sufficient supply of food to cover your pet’s entire stay at OH, including additional food for an extra day or two in ca0se of an emergency.  This food should be in a container with a locking lid and labeled with your pet’s name along with feeding instructions. Should your dog run out of food, you agree to have OH supply the same or comparable food for your pet. Please note to ensure the well-being of your pet, we will not feed anything unless provided or directed by you.  Any treats or belongings should be identified to OH Staff at the time of drop-off/check-in so that the items can be identified and checked. **Additional treats provided by OH

INTACT, NEUTERED, OR SPAYED ANIMALS POLICY

Dogs do not need to be neutered or spayed in order to attend our daycare facility and/or pack walks.  However, we will not accept females in heat and may refuse intact males who are overly aggressive, or display other dominant behaviours such as excessive mounting.  OH always reserves the right to revoke daycare and pack walk rights to dogs who may pose a danger to others.

Client Drop Off: To drop off your dog for daycare Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., please enter the main gate and wait in the airlock section so our staff can see you and come get your dog. We ask clients not to come into the secured outdoor space because this could disrupt the environment. Please advise OH staff if you will be unable to complete drop off by 9:00am. Any arrivals after 9:00 a.m may not be guaranteed a spot with the group for that day, as each day begins with an offsite pack walk.

Client Pick Up: Pick up time from the daycare is at 3:00pm Monday – Friday. If you are running behind or plan to be early, please advise OH staff as soon as possible, by text, e-mail or phone call. On arrival, please come to the gate, enter the airlock so staff can see you and wait for staff to bring your dog to you. Please do not leave the airlock to pick up your dog, as the staff may not be able to assist you right away.

Late Pick Up: If an owner is late to pick up their dog from daycare, beyond the 3:15p.m, they will automatically be charged a full day as detailed in OH pricing guide. Unless prior arrangements have been made.

Closing Time/Emergency Boarding: If your dog has not been picked up by closing time and you have not made prior arrangements, your dog will be enrolled in emergency boarding and will stay with a OH staff member overnight. You will be charged an overnight boarding fee of $100.00 in addition to the regular daycare fee, and you may pick up your dog the following day during regular business hours (Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) Please note: due to zoning regulations, we are unable to accommodate after-hours pick up.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: Please do not call from the driveway for daycare assistance. Do not open the gate from the airlock section or enter the daycare area without OH staff present. The safety of the pack depends on a consistent routine and pack leaders, and sudden noises or the appearance of strangers can disrupt the pack.

EXTREME WEATHER POLICY

The safety of your pups and our staff is of the utmost importance to us. We take a closure seriously and have been fortunate that we have not been affected by an extreme weather closure as of yet, however there are certain circumstances where a closure may be the case.

EXTREME WIND: If a wind warning is in effect pack walks may be cancelled due to the danger of falling trees. As our daycare is outdoor based, the daycare day may be shortened or cancelled due to the risk of falling trees in the yard and surrounding area.

EXTREME RAIN: If rain has caused substantial flooding to the daycare and/or roads and it is deemed unsafe the daycare and/or pack walk may be closed.

EXTREME SNOW AND/OR COLD: If a snow warning is in effect, if the roads are ice, or if the temperature reaches -5 degrees Celsius or below the daycare and/or pack walk may be shortened or cancelled.

EXTREME HEAT: If a heat warning is in effect the pack walk time may be reduced drastically or cancelled and the daycare day may be shortened or cancelled.

Due to the unpredictability and infrequency of these circumstances there will not be a reimbursement for these days.

TERMINATION OF SERVICE POLICY

OH reserves the right to terminate services, at its sole discretion, if:

 (i) in OH’'s sole judgment dog(s) is dangerous or vicious or

(ii) if OH staff deem’s the dog(s) unfit for the pack walk and/or daycare environment or

(iii) Client breaches any term or condition of this Agreement. Client agrees to promptly pay all outstanding balances due up to and through the date of termination.

If Client decides to terminate OH services for any reason, Client shall notify OH of intent to cancel with 14 days notice for all Daycare services and 7 days notice for all Pack Walk services.
